Rusty series book-1 Rusty: the Boy from the Hills

This is the first book in the Rusty series. It starts with Rusty as a little boy of around seven years old and goes up to the time of his father's death. The book captures Rusty's random experiences with animals, trees, and hills during his childhood, and also about his learning new things naturally from these. Through various animals, like monkeys, snakes, tigers, tortoises, parrots, and many more, he experiences the world from a new perspective.

This book creates an insightful picture of the growing years of Ruskin Bond's alter ego, Rusty. All the stories are beautiful, funny, full of emotions, and present a picturesque view of the world. Mischievous animals make you laugh aloud; careless and crazy uncle Ken puts a smile on your face; princess's memories of her youth while sitting in The Room of Many Colours, and The Last Tonga Ride takes you into a nostalgic world, and The Funeral makes you shed some real tears while remembering the loss of a loved one.

The book is a wonderful read. It initiates a friendship with the free spirit Rusty. And of course, there's Ruskin-special fragrance of hills, trees, flowers, and the innocence of people. I love this book.
